Toads and Promos

June, 2010
Hello friends,
June is here and the summer sun is giving me all sorts of energy to
get out and play. With that being said, I have three shows coming up
in the next couple of weeks. If you can make it, I would love the
support and will be happy to chat with you:
Friday, June 4th: Cosmic Charlie's in Lexington, Kentucky
Saturday, June 12th: Juney's Lounge at Southgate House in Cincinnati,
Ohio
Tuesday, June 15th: The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virginia
Check the calendar for more details.
After that I will be packing up and driving north for a summer in
Connecticut, working my annual post at National Guitar Workshop. I am
hoping to play a couple shows in Connecticut and New York while I am there.
If you
have any recommendations for gigs in CT, please feel free to email me.
In other music news, I have begun a Triple A Radio campaign with Kyle
Meredith promotions. The new record will be played on stations all over the nation
(and beyond), so tune in to your favorite public or college station
and request to hear one of my songs!
Otherwise, I'm just enjoying lovely evening walks in Nashville. While
walking through Shelby Bottoms last week, I heard the strange calls of
Narrow-mouthed toads, which sound oddly enough like goats. Nature is
in full swing at the homestead, with a family of possums in the
backyard and green beans and raspberries growing in the front yard.
Wherever you are, enjoy the lovely weather and please stay in touch.
Thanks,
~L

January, 2010
Hello everyone,
I am happy to announce that Civil Twilight is now available for purchase online. You can order a copy at
http://www.cdbaby.com. As always, feel free to sample the tracks on my website, or at
http://www.myspace.com/lancewhalen. I worked so hard on this album, and believe that it is such a great CD, that I am also offering a special give-away to CD Baby users. I will give away two free CDs to the first two people who leave reviews for the album. Leave a review, send me a message to let me know you left the review, and I'll send a copy of the CD in the mail to you. Nice and easy.
The Lexington CD Release party was fantastic. Natasha's loved the show, and I am hoping to get back there in the coming months. Kudos to my band for helping me make a memorable set, and thank you to Arthur Hatton for opening the show. I am planning to do more live shows--specifically in the Nashville area in the near future. However, I would also like to mention that I have been devising a plan for a tour that would bring me up to Connecticut. If you have any suggestions for venues or cities you would like me to play in, send me an email and I will be in touch with you shortly.
The Synapse Trap/Lance Whalen video for "Breathe Easy" is now online as well. I'd love for you to check it out, and you can do so on my webpage in the "Video" section. We had a lot of fun working with Jeremy Adams, Andrew House and C.K. Cates.
And finally, the household of frogs is doing well. Last night I captured an escapee in my kitchen. This little spring peeper somehow managed to escape his tank, and I believe has been surviving off of ants in the kitchen for a few days! We were happy to see he was in good health, and maybe a little sad to go back to the tank where no ant-buffet would be available to him.
Thanks again for your continued and well-appreciated support. Please be in touch about the CD giveaway and let me know if you have any questions!

Holidays and Beyond (and beyond happy holidays)

December 20, 2009
Hello Everyone,
First of all: Happy Holidays. However you plan to celebrate this time of year, I wish you all the best of comfort and the brightest of wishes for a great 2010. This is the time of year when we contemplate the blessings in our life, and I feel blessed to have people who listen to my music and support my art. So, thank you very much for visiting this website, and taking interest in what I am doing.
2010 is going to start off with enormous excitement for me. Civil Twilight is now out and available. The CD looks absolutely incredible, and if you are into my music, I can't say it enough: this CD is awesome. John Simpson, my producer, did an absolutely incredible job helping me in the studio. I was also fortunate to have many gifted musicians help play on the album as well. The photography and layout of the CD looks just as fantastic, and I am very eager to get it out and played to everyone. You can sample the music on this webpage. If you want to order a CD, you can send a paypal payment of $10 to lance@lancewhalen.com. If you want to hang in there for MP3s, Civil Twilight will be available on CD Baby within a couple of weeks.
In addition to a new CD, a new music video will be out in January. It is a remix of "Breathe Easy" by Synapse Trap, and the video was directed by the very talented Jeremy Adams. The video, along with many pictures taken during its shooting, will be posted up here. The few who have been fortunate to see it have praised it, and I can't wait to share it with all of you.
Finally: if you are in the Lexington area, I will be having a CD release party at Natasha's on January 6th. I can't wait for this gig, since I have wanted to play here for ages. It's a great venue, and the show opens with the wonderful Arthur Hatton at 9:00. I will then play with a band, which includes Cassady Feasby on upright , Gabe Wright on various stringed instruments, Phil Osborne on drums, also Athur Hatton. I'd love for you to come out, give some support to us, and enjoy the amazing music I wish to share with you.
In the meanwhile, I am gearing up for a peaceful holiday in Arkansas. My family and I will be relaxing at Hidden Springs Bed & Breakfast for a couple of days, and I am looking forward to the escape to some beautiful scenery. I'm getting the frogs ready for vacation tonight and getting exciting about doing some ghost hunting at the famously haunted Crescent Hotel.
Have a wonderful holiday, and thank you so much for reading. Please stay in touch!
